It wasn’t perfect but I am just pleased that with a few small changes I was able to throw a party with a fraction of the normal waste and plastic. The party bags were fully recyclable with almost no plastic. All decorations were either re-used or fully biodegradable - except a few of the balloons, only because I didn’t have the heart to say “No” to my only child on her special day. Happily the party food, boxes and bags were all biodegradable. ![]() A lot of the party props were reused to minimise waste, where applicable and feasible. A little late to announce but is it ever too late to mark the milestones of your all too fast growing daughter? Nahhh!! Awidhava Navmi is an auspicious Hindu ritual observed on the 9th day of Pitru Paksha (the fortnight devoted to ancestors). A couple of days ago I cooked this feast on ‘Awidhwa Navmi’ in memory of my eldest sister whom we lost 27 years ago. ![]()
